the spirit of a traditional
British Pub
“We like to think that we have all the character and spirit of a traditional local pub, with a modern, grown up edge”
Owner Rupert Hill
What makes for a great British pub?
The atmosphere? The drinks selection? The food? We think it’s a combination of all of these things and more. And that’s why we pride ourselves on being a pub with real soul, in the heart of south Manchester’s leafy suburbs. Run by husband and wife Jamie and Goska and the team behind The Castle Hotel in Manchester city centre, at The Parlour we welcome everyone like an old friend and aim to deliver great quality food, drink and service in down to earth, relaxed surroundings. Our menu of traditional pub classics with a grown-up edge has been lovingly created using local produce wherever possible, and we’ve a fine selection of handpicked cask ales and an independent spirit that’s not easy to come by in this age of chain pubs and mass production. So bring the friends and family and enjoy a meal, enjoy a pint, or just enjoy each other. We look forward to welcoming you!

They originally started as a fruit & veg stall on Heywood market in the 1960s, ran by current director Mike’s mother, Rose. Mike grew the business to a chain of shops in the Manchester region until the late 1990’s when supermarkets changed the face of the high street & the company couldn’t compete. Starting afresh, Mike with wife Maggie turned demanding projects but small enough to have the personal touch to their service.
